Italian Vogue

Several years ago I got to do an editorial photo shoot for Italian Vogue with legendary photographer Steven Meisel. The theme was “Super Models Go To Rehab” and I got to play an orderly.

Cover from the July 2007 issue.

Hello.

That’s me playing cards in the upper left — getting paid to hang out with naked supermodels, like the recumbent Iselin Steiro and Missy Rayder here. Really makes me long for my old aerospace industry cubicle.

“Getting supermodels to their therapy sessions on time is like herding cats,” I thought as I dragged supermodel Sasha Pivovarova down the linoleum floor.

That towering figure of authority in the background is me giving supermodel Irina Kulikova the stink-eye for making a mess of her Cocoa Puffs.

Now, if for some strange reason you’re interested in the rest of the pics — ones that don’t include a blurry shot of my knee — you’ll just have to go dig up the magazine.

About Steve Altes

I am iconoclastic, autodidactic, apothegmatic, and pugilistic. But most of all, I am someone who wonders what those words mean. I also write allegedly funny books, essays, speeches, and screenplays. But don't take my word for it. Google me, hombre.
